Hermosa Beach Movers for Life Between The Strand and PCH
Hermosa Beach is small, sunny and tightly packed. The City describes it as 1.4 square miles with two miles of sandy shoreline, with residences right on The Strand, bungalows scattered through town and multi-level homes with ocean views. It is a wonderful place to live, and public parking is limited, so moving day takes a little planning.
That is where Pure Moving Company comes in. We go over the City’s Moving Van Permit, its 72 hour sign rule and the Pacific Coast Highway tow-away hours with you, so there are no surprises at the curb. From apartment moving near Pier Avenue to a full family home, every move gets the same attention.
Our friendly pro movers wrap furniture and valuables individually, and we really care about how your move feels, not only how fast it goes. Pure Moving is fully licensed and insured, and everything you need for your move is included in our rate.
Moving in Hermosa Beach: What to Plan For
Reserve the Curb With a Moving Van Permit
A moving truck in the street needs a permit here, and the good news is that the permit comes with signs that hold the curb for you. Public Works issues the Moving Van Permit as a Right of Way Permit through the City’s online permitting portal. The City’s Right of Way Permits page and its Moving Van Permits page spell it out:
- Each permit is valid for 1 day, and you need one for every day the van is on site.
- The moving company must have a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming the City as additionally insured.
- 72 hour notice is required, and the City asks for applications at least 1 to 2 weeks ahead.
- No Parking/Tow Away signs and A-frames come with the permit. The signs must be in place 72 hours before they take effect.
Questions go to Public Works at (310) 318-0214.
Check the Rules on Your Block
Between The Strand and Loma Drive, Park Avenue or Morningside Drive, you are in what the City calls the Impacted Parking Area, where residential parking permits apply. One-hour zones are enforced in parts of it from May 15 through September 15. Street sweeping is posted street by street and enforced every day except City recognized holidays, even on rainy days. The City’s Parking Regulations page has the details.
Pacific Coast Highway has tow-away hours too: the east side Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 AM, and the west side Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
Skip the Fiesta Hermosa Weekends
Fiesta Hermosa is held on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. The City closes Pier Avenue from Hermosa Avenue to Bard Street and Hermosa Avenue between 10th and 14th Streets, and vehicles left there are cited and towed. If you live nearby, pick another weekend.

How Does Pricing Work For Hermosa Beach Movers?
It is simple hourly pricing with no hidden charges. You only pay for the time we work, and our rate includes blankets and moving pads, wardrobe boxes, shrink wrap and tape, dollies, tools and straps, loading and unloading, assembly and reassembly, packing and unpacking, tax and basic insurance. Stairs, narrow hallways and long walking distances carry no additional fee. Current rates are on our rates page.
Do I Need A Permit To Park A Moving Truck In Hermosa Beach?
Yes, plan on one. Hermosa Beach lists moving trucks among the uses that need a Right of Way Permit. Each Moving Van Permit is valid for 1 day, 72 hour notice is required, and the City asks you to apply 1 to 2 weeks ahead. The No Parking/Tow Away signs must be posted 72 hours in advance to be enforceable.
Can A Moving Truck Park On Pacific Coast Highway?
Only outside the posted tow-away hours. The City cites and tows vehicles on the east side of the highway Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 AM, and on the west side Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Give us your address early and we will plan around them.
Are Your Movers In Hermosa Beach Licensed And Insured?
Yes. Pure Moving is fully licensed and insured, under California license MTR0191103. That matters here, because Hermosa Beach asks for the moving company’s Certificate of Liability Insurance, naming the City as additionally insured, before it issues a Moving Van Permit. Tell us when you book if you plan to apply.
Are There Size Limits If I Drive My Own Rental Truck?
Yes. Hermosa Beach treats any vehicle more than 7 feet wide or 20 feet long as oversized, and parking one on a City street or public lot takes an Oversized Vehicle Parking Permit. Prefer to skip the rental? Our friendly pro movers bring the truck, the pads and the furniture moving know-how!
